Schema v1 is the machine-readable answer to questions such as “which band is nir08 on Landsat 8”. It holds:

  • the collection ids and their aliases,
  • the band crosswalk keyed on STAC common names, with wavelengths, resolution, scale, offset and nodata per band,
  • the unified cloud mask classes and bits,
  • the harmonization levels, with the HLS bandpass coefficients,
  • the units and their conversions,
  • the index expressions (ndvi, evi, savi, ndwi, ndmi, nbr, ndsi),
  • the mosaicking options.

schemaVersion says which release you hold; it is 1.0.0 at launch. Schema v1 only grows within /v1, so you can cache it for a long time. See Versioning.

Schema v1 describes all 13 planned collections. Only the collections listed by GET /v1/collections are live.
