Harmonized Landsat Sentinel-2 v2.0

Coming later NASA’s Harmonized Landsat Sentinel-2 (HLS) v2.0 turns Landsat 8-9 and Sentinel-2 into one 30 m surface reflectance product on the Sentinel-2 MGRS grid, with bandpass adjustment and nadir BRDF normalization (NBAR) already applied. HLSL30 holds the Landsat scenes and HLSS30 the Sentinel-2 scenes; the item property constellation tells them apart.

Schema v1 defines this collection, but lean v1 does not serve it yet. Requests for it answer 404 unknown-collection. GET /v1/collections will list it once it is live.

Other layers: Fmask.

  • Every two to three days on average, from the combined satellites.
  • The only collection in schema v1 with nbar harmonization.
  • Clouds come from its Fmask layer.
  • The files are in NASA’s LP DAAC Earthdata Cloud in us-west-2, behind Earthdata Login. The API will handle the credentials.
  • The time span is what schema v1 expects. The live collection document will publish the extent measured from the index.
  • Phases refer to the build plan; see the Data overview.
